About CIABATA

CIABATA is a separate limited company and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chemical Industries Association (CIA). CIABATA’s role is threefold
1. to manage and administer the chemical sector climate change agreement (CCA) through which participants secure an 80% reduction to the Climate Change Levy (CCL)

2. to support member´s CCA related emissions trading by providing guidance, commenting on developments and other activities.

3. to co-ordinate energy efficiency workshops and best practice sharing in the chemical sector.

The CCL is the tax on the business use for energy of electricity, gas, LPG and solid fuels which started on 1 April 2001. The agreement is equally open to participants from both within and outside CIA membership.
